What are some Pros and Cons for the Balanced Budget Amendment?

All a BBA would do is paralyze the government unless one party was in total control of Congress and the White House. Otherwise, there would be exactly the same arguments we are having today about taxes vs spending cuts vs a compromise. This is just political grandstanding by the Republicans to distract the majority of the country from noticing that even though the people want it by leaps and bounds, they have no intention of raising taxes a whole 3% on the top 2% income ranks.
