Are nymphs the same as goddesses?

I'm doing a project where we have to pretend we're interviewing a god or a goddess. I wanted to do Echo, but some people said she was a nymph and that she wasn't a goddess and others claimed that she was a nymph and she was still a goddess. So basically, Is Echo a goddess and are nymphs the same as goddesses?
