Should Israel wait to be punched in the face before embarking on a self-defense mission?

It has always been my view that Israel has had their hands tied behind their back by the US. We need to let them take action as they see fit, and stay out of their business. I think they can take care of themselfs, without our intervention. If they can't then, oh well.
