Why does American media seem to be chastising Obama while defending Netanyahu?

Obama thought he had enough clout after killing Bin Laden to draw a line in the sand on the Israel/Palestine conflict. He was wrong. US media wholeheartedly supports Israel, and many heads of media are ardent Zionists. Look at what happened to Helen Thomas.
